We exist only to serve our members
BAG Credit Union is a not for profit financial co-operative owned and controlled by our members. We offer a friendly, convenient and secure place to save, with access to low cost loans.
Who We Are
We offer everyone a fair deal regardless of financial background. Members who have saved regularly for 13 weeks (3 months) can apply for a loan and borrow up to double their shares. For example, if you have saved £100 you can borrow up to £200. Your shares are held as security against your loan.
The income we make on our affordable loans help fund the returns on your shares/savings in the form of dividend, based on how well we have performed that year.
Super Savers
We work with two local schools, Aberbargoed Primary School and Ysgol Bro Sannan offering a collection point for young savers. Encouraging children and teaching them the importance of saving.

June 1st 1992 was the birth of a vision which was to evolve and become part of our community. A community who needed a way to tackle financial exclusion. Ten people with courage and commitment to the concept of credit unions met in St Peters Presbytery in Gilfach and founded Bargoed, Aberbargoed and Gilfach Credit Union Ltd or as we now call ourself BAG Credit Union.
